Peter Vilks

PVilksArea of expertise
Peter Vilks has extensive industry experience from entry level technical to Chair of the Board. He has particular functional expertise in business-to-business sales and marketing, new product selection and introduction, technology transfer, acquisition and divestiture valuation and implementation, and utility deregulation and privatization. He has experience in industrial, aerospace and utility segments. He has served on corporate strategic planning task forces and chaired strategic review teams of large corporate divisions as well as on salesforce redeployment. He has held executive positions on aquired companies and sat on Boards of utility service organizations.

Peter Vilks is a Professional Engineer, and has held memberships in various marketing associations. He was a member of the Industrial Advisory Council for McMaster’s Engineering and Management Program including the position of Chair.

Dr. Milena Head

MHeadDr. Milena Head specializes in electronic commerce and human-computer interaction. Her research interests include Trust and Privacy in Electronic Commerce, Mobile Commerce, Interface Design, Technology Adoption, Online Retailing, and Web Navigation.

Dr. Head served as the Associate Dean of the DeGroote School of Business from 2004 to 2010 and is currently the MBA Director. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Head has published over 90 papers in respected academic journals, books and conferences including MIS Quarterly, Information & Management, International Journal of Human–Computer Studies, Interacting with Computers, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, and Group Decision and Negotiation. She serves on the Editorial Board of several journals and has been the Conference Chair, Program Chair and Associate Editor for numerous international academic conferences.

Dr. Head has been actively involved in the supervision of students at undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. She coaches MBA students, preparing them for various national/international case competitions. She has been nominated for teaching excellence awards and was the recipient of the Basu Teaching Award, awarded to the best professor in the MBA program. Dr. Head is frequently called upon by the media and by community groups to speak about her research and, in particular, identity theft issues

Jim Letwin

JLetwinJim is the President and CEO at JAN Kelley Marketing. He has a tremendous marketing mind that is a huge asset for clients and for the day-to-day education of our entire team. Prior to his agency life, Jim accumulated a wealth of experience in the field through managing brands of heavy hitters
like Ralston Purina, SC Johnson and Warner Lambert, as well as a mile-long list of others that he’s touched through his business to business, retail or corporate consulting.

Jim not only has a Bachelor of Science, and an MBA, he also teaches a class of MBAs at McMaster. Jim could also talk about almost every square inch of Walt Disney World. This Disney-buff makes it down to see Mickey and friends whenever he has the chance. An amazingly gifted public speaker, few can engage and entertain an audience the way he can. Fortunately for us, his best material is often reserved for his all-staff speeches. If you’re not mentally and emotionally prepared for these, you just may end up rolling
around the aisles in four-alarm laughter.

Jennifer McCleary

JMcClearyJennifer is the Director of the Centre for Business Career Development at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. She joined the DeGroote team in 2005 with an MBA from Ivey and over 19 years of private and public sector experience. Jennifer’s work experience across a broad range of industries, including insurance, healthcare and retail, has supported an enhanced career development experience and stronger strategic partnerships with the school and employers. She has held senior operational and management roles at Ontario Blue Cross, Liberty Health, Baxter Corporation and Gap Inc. Canada.

In her current role, Jennifer leads a diverse team of career development professionals. She is a frequent and sought-after workshop facilitator, conference presenter and coach/mentor to students and employees. Passionate about talent management, professional development and continuous process improvement, Jennifer is widely respected for her ability to manage and implement change, build new programs and enhance existing services.

Tim Berezny

TBerezny Tim works as a lead consultant with Doleweerd Consulting focusing on business process improvement in Health Care. Tim has undertaken a variety of intra and inter-organizational business process optimization initiatives in community care and hospitals related to areas such as scheduling, supply chain management, IT collaboration solutions, standardization, access management, project management, data analysis, change management. He has received numerous awards for his leadership and achievements. Tim also brings experience and insights from other industries that include automotive/electronics manufacturing, software design. In addition, Tim is also a Focus Business Consulting alumnus.

Paul F. Inglis

Mr. Paul Inglis is a Partner in the Global Operations Practice of A.T. Kearney, one of the world’s leading management consulting firms. He has more than 25 years of industry and consulting experience with international corporate clients in consumer products, aerospace, communications, and automotive companies and specializes in corporate strategy, supply chain strategy, strategic sourcing, and transportation.

Mr. Inglis has been prominent in research on service performance, has led two projects in cooperation with the ECR Committee and completed a project with the Center for Advanced Purchasing Studies, the National Association of Purchasing Management and A.T. Kearney to identify the future direction of procurement.

Mr. Inglis is widely quoted and published on business issues. He was a long time board member and President of the Canadian Association of Supply Chain Management and co-author of “Profitable Logistics Management”, a textbook on practical methods for managing logistics. He is a member of the Business Advisory Committee of the DeGroote School of Business and on the Board of A.T. Kearney, Co.

Dr. Christopher Longo
CLongoChristopher Longo has 16 years of industry experience in clinical research, economic evaluation, and market access strategies for pharmaceuticals. He has published both clinical and economic research in a number of therapeutic areas including diabetes, cancer, sepsis and central nervous system disorders. His research interests include the economic and quality of life evaluation of pharmaceuticals in the areas of cancer, diabetes and sepsis, global pharmaceutical pricing strategies, the public/private mix in the financing of healthcare, the evaluation of factors influencing patients’ financial burden for health care services, and factors that lead to higher individual consumption of health care resources. Longo has consulted with numerous provincial and federal agencies related to economic evaluation of pharmaceuticals including: the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technology in Health (formerly Canadian Co-ordinating Office for Health Technology Assessment), Cancer Care Ontario, Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, and the National Cancer Institute of Canada. Longo was the past chair of Rx&D’s (Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies) Health Economic Working Group from 2002-2004. Longo has also acted as an expert advisor to a number of Rx&D committees from 1997 to 2005. He is a reviewer for the journals Pharmacoeconomics, Medical Care, Canadian Medical Association Journal, and Supportive Care in Cancer.

Jim Matthews

Jim Matthews is Senior Director of Demand Management, at Research in Motion (RIM). He has responsibility for demand management and process development, analytics and  non revenue product governance. Key priorities include effectively sensing and analyzing market demand and business plans, as well as partnering with the Supply Chain team to deliver an exceptional customer response with optimal inventory performance.

Jim builds on many years of senior customer, operational and supply chain responsibility, primarily in High Tech (IBM, Celestica, RIM). He brings a passion for the customer and pragmatism to complex business solutions. Currently, Jim is the writer in residence for the DeGroote School of Business and a member of the Dean’s advisory board.

Jim is a graduate of McMaster University, holding a Commerce Degree and MBA and a member of various volunteer boards.

Matthew Strmec

Matt sMatt Strmec is a Manager of Business Architecture at Royal Bank of Canada, working in the Canadian Banking platform. As a Business Architect, Matt acts as an internal consultant working with various lines of business across RBC Canadian Banking to help them refine and articulate their strategies, design their business and build strategic road maps to help achieve their long term vision.

As a graduate of the DeGroote MBA Coop Program, Matt has a diverse background across industries and functions spanning the pharmaceuticals, retail and telecommunications industries in functions ranging from marketing to information technology. Matt also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from DeGroote where he was a member and captain of the Men’s Varsity Swimming Team from 2006 to 2010.

Carlos Cabrero

Carlos Cabrero is an up-and-coming TELUS team member with an impressive track record of delivering quality results. He started with TELUS in 2013, spearheading a variety of programs supporting the Procurement and Supply Chain Management teams. In his current role, Carlos manages a team of nine international resources responsible for strategically sourcing products and services to drive value and savings. He works with key legal, finance and risk stakeholders to write, negotiate and execute contracts with TELUS vendors.

Carlos recently completed his MBA at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, with a double major in finance and the management of innovation and new technology. Carlos is a 2012 FBC alumnus, who leveraged his role as MBAA President to develop relationships and generate sales. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and organizational studies from the University of Western Ontario, with an honours specialization in finance administration.

As a new member to the Board of Advisors, Carlos will continue to drive business development and offer ongoing sales advice from the buy-side perspective. Prior to joining TELUS, Carlos held positions in finance in the pharmaceuticals, logistics and consultancy industries. In his spare time, Carlos remains active with his alma maters, enjoys playing competitive baseball, and is active in other recreational sports.

Geoff Reiner

Geoff.Reiner.picGeoff Reiner has always had a passion for sales and entrepreneurship. After obtaining corporate experience from Toyota Canada and Xerox Canada, Geoff co-founded a consulting business, Persistus Strategies. At Persistus, Geoff and his team work with business owners to help them develop and implement business strategy. Additionally, they work directly with sales teams to reframe objections, enhance sales skills and close new business.

Through Geoff’s consulting, an opportunity was created to work in collaboration with Crystal Wealth, a Burlington based portfolio management firm. Crystal Wealth is known for providing investors with a diverse range of investment opportunities anchored by their own proprietary and unique Alternative Investment Income Strategies. Geoff has adopted this unique approach to help his clients build wealth through sustainable yet simple investment strategies.

Geoff is a member of the Board of Governors at Hillfield Strathallan College in Hamilton. He also serves as the HSC Board Ambassador for the Alumni Association Executive Committee.

In his spare time, Geoff enjoys athletics both as a player and volunteer coach. He believes that travel is the greatest form of education and takes every opportunity to see the world.
